Jaami Waali

Fine Art Biography

Jaami Waali, (pronounced Jay-Me Wall-Lee) considers herself an artist in most aspects of her life. She is a painter, dancer, and innovator. Mrs. Waali has been a painter for almost 30 years, and currently holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts and Dance from San Diego State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from California State University Long Beach.

Her paintings are a mixture of realism and surrealism, as she enjoys exploring the relationship between visual sight and an active imagination. Through her use of mixed medias, she focuses on relationships, nature, struggle, and the human body. Even though some of her piece are a bit dreary, painting these subjects have always brought her an inexplicable sense of peace.

Originally from Seattle, Jaami has always used her artistic abilities – both in painting and dancing – to express herself in ways that she couldn’t while growing up. Mrs. Waali creates art that allows her to release her frustrations and learn from her realizations. For onlookers, her artwork inspires, intrigues, and entertains. In addition to teaching dance and painting, she also has a history of ten years working in the social services field, providing care to youths, at risk teens, adults with developmental disabilities and seniors.

Mrs. Waali’s commission work includes several murals, specific paintings, City of San Diego electrical boxes, which she also has experience teaching classes and making promotional signs for a large company in Los Angeles. She has since had three solo art shows, numerous group art shows and actively participated in one live art show. She plans to expand her art to the public in the near future! Be on the lookout!!!
